Altona Middle School is located in southwest Longmont, Colorado and is part of the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD). As part of the SVVSD school district, Altona falls under their non-profit 501(c)(3) status. Our school mascot is the Rattlers and we welcome students from across SVVSD and neighboring school districts in a dynamic and supportive school environment.
Altona has been awarded the Green Star School rating and aspires to incorporate waste reduction in every facet of school life. Students and faculty at Altona are utilizing technology in a variety of ways on a daily basis; they are reminded to remember to be safe, responsible and respectful with all of the technological offerings. Overall, Altona has created a secure, collaborative school environment that is inclusive, welcoming, and caters to students of all abilities and backgrounds. Our school has a standards-based method and the education that students receive is implemented by a system for teaching and learning that focuses on students becoming proficient in clear, measurable standards. For students and teachers in the day-to-day teaching & learning process, standards-based education means teaching and learning with the “end in mind”.
