ClassPolicy Next is a digital classroom management tool. Pair this tool with discussions about time management, screen addiction, and academic integrity in order to help your students become excellent Digital Citizens.
This tool will enable you to do the following:
Monitor Student Device Use in Class
Launch Apps, Websites, and Documents to all student computers
Restrict websites and apps
Enable "Test Mode"
Conduct in class polls
Call on students with "Stick Pick"
Here's the quick overview of how to use ClassPolicy Next
Click on your class and click the Start Class button in the upper right hand corner. Give the system a moment for all students to appear in the system.
Use the tools on the left hand menu to effect the entire class. You can block websites/apps, launch websites/apps, conduct classwide polls, freeze all screens, monitor battery status, and randomize a student to call on. You can also watch all screens at once, and encourage students to use their devices and time purposefully.
To effect an individual student, double click on an individual student's icon. Here, you can look at the student's Web history, send them a message, freeze their individual screen, check their battery status, and more.
Remember to click End Class when the bell rings.
Want a more detailed explanation? Click on the in depth "How To" guide to the right.
ClassPolicy Next also provides some user guides on their website here.
If you want to give another teacher access to your ClassPolicy (ex: a para educator or a long term sub), follow these steps.
Sign into ClassPolicy.
From the menu at the top of the My Classes screen, click on the Share Class button.
A Share Classes with Substitute window will appear.
Enter in the substitute ID and select the classes teacher would like to share with sub.
Click Share to save changes.
You can access a student's Web History through ClassPolicy Next. Please keep in mind that you can only view a student's web history for the periods of time that you were running the program in your class. (In other words, you can see their web history if you were running it during a 7th period test, but not when they were working on an essay at home).
Follow these steps:
Open Windows File Explorer and go to C:\ClassPolic\Students directory
You should see a list of all your students.
Select the student you want to view.
In the student's folder you will see an App History and Web History file.
These files will be the app and web history of a student by date from the time the teacher started the class to the time the teacher ended the class.
Why are my students offline?
First, ensure that the student(s) who appear offline are using a school issued device. If they are on a personal device, then you will not be able to monitor them through ClassPolicy Next.
If student(s) are using a school device and appear offline, then submit a tech ticket.
I don't see ClassPolicy Next on my computer. How do I add it?
Go to the Windows search menu and look for ClassPolicy NEXT. Not just ClassPolicy- it has to have the Next.
If it is not there, search for Microsoft Store. Open the app, and then search for ClassPolicy Next. (notice the spacing- it's two words not three). Install the app.
The sign in page should have your school (in a drop-down menu) and an Azure ID button.
I want to block an app that is not on the list.
If you would like an app that is not listed, please submit a tech ticket. Be sure to mention that you want the option to block it within ClassPolicy Next.
