Here's how you can create student assignments in Canva, and how students can turn in assignments.
Good news! Now you can create a Canva assignment for students without leaving Schoology!
First, create the template you want your students to use in Canva. Then, create the assignment in Schoology!
Click on Add Materials, then choose the Canva option in the right hand menu.
Select the design you want students to use.
Click Link Text, then New Design for Each Student.
When students click on the link, it will create a new copy for them.
Want students to turn in their work? Create a separate grade column or assignment, and give them the instructions on the right for turn in.
Check out the video instructions on the right.
Students can submit their work in Schoology as either a link or a PDF upload.
You can give them the instructions in the document on the right.
Click on it to see it larger and/or print a copy.
Canva Screen Recording
How To:
Create a Video Project in Canva.
Click on Uploads. Choose "Record Yourself" then "Record a Talking Head."
Choose "Camera and Screen" (even if you don't want your face on your recording, you still need to choose this option).
Select your window/tab, camera, and microphone.
Record!
You can make your video tiny if you only want to hear your voice.
Cool Uses:
Students show their work.
Students discuss/reflect on their work.
Have them save as an MP4 then use the "turn in" instructions above.
The behind of the scenes organization of our Canva subscription has changed- we are now organized by school, rather than under one big district umbrella.
Please click on the guide to the left to see how to find your old Canva creations and move them into your new account.
From now on, please create within your school team, rather than the team called SVSD ARCHIVED or a team from a school you previously attended.
Here is a STUDENT VERSION of the instructions.
Did you accidentally create something in a wrong team? Use the instructions linked above to copy it to your new team. OR click on SHARE then choose Public View Link.
First, give your designs a minute or two to transfer to the new team, especially if you are copying many projects at a time!
Don't look for your transferred projects in RECENT DESIGNS. You have not opened the project in the new team, so it will not appear in Recent Designs.
Instead, look for it in Projects. If you don't see it immediately, try using the FILTERS at the top. See the video at the right (no audio) to see how to navigate the filters.
Working with people outside of your school team? Rather than sharing a design with individuals, we suggest the following:
Collaborators: create a "anyone with the link can edit" link and email it to collaborators.
View: Create a "Public View" link from the share button and distribute that.
How do I use Canva?
Login to Canva through Classlink. You have an educator account, which means you have full access to all the features on Canva. Both teachers and students can use Canva.
Choose what you'd like to make (ex: a presentation, an infographic, etc.) and either create a blank document, or work within an existing template. See the video on the right for a quick "Getting Started" overview.
Canva is frequently adding new features, and the best place to learn about them is their own website.
And these are a few playlists that you might find particularly helpful.
