Iowa Central Community College

Iowa Central Community College is no longer offering flexnet courses. All courses offered online are considered online courses. These courses now have a timeline to follow for course work, tests, projects, quizzes, etc. for students. Please read the following information to answer any questions or concerns many students and parents have regarding online courses and duel credit courses taken through Iowa Central.

Following is information to help you successfully progress through your Online course:

TRITON PASS TritonPass is a portal system that allows students to access all internet resources such as your Iowa Central student e-mail account, iNET, and WebAdvisor, in one location. It eliminates the hassle of logging in multiple times to access different services. Three to five days prior to the start of the semester, an Online Welcome E-mail with login information will be sent to your Iowa Central Student E-mail Account and any personal email account we have on file. To login to Triton Pass go to the Iowa Central home page and click on the TritonPass link. This will take you to the login page:

• Your username is the first part of your e-mail address (without the “@student.iowacentral.edu”). To look up your username click on the link under the “Students” heading on the TritonPass login page that reads: “Need help? Click here to find your Username and Password” and follow the directions on this page.

• Your password is the first three letters of your last name in CAPS and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. (If you do not have a Social Security Number, try using the last four digits of your Iowa Central student ID number.) • If you have problems logging in, please contact the Iowa Central help desk at 515-574-1100 (or extension 1100 if you live on campus).

TO ACCESS YOUR ONLINE ORIENTATION Click on the Triton Pass Padlock, in the upper-left corner of the main page. You will then click on iNET, which is Iowa Central’s Learning Management System where you will access the orientation (and your Online courses). Students are required to successfully complete orientation prior to gaining access to their Online course(s).

TO ACCESS YOUR ONLINE COURSE One to two hours after the successful completion of the online orientation, iNET will load you into your Online course(s). Once your course(s) load, you will find the links to these course(s) on the iNET page.

FIRST WEEK REQUIREMENTS You must post to one of the first weeks forums/discussion topics (not including the Meet-nGreet) within the first week to avoid being dropped from the Online course(s). This includes completing Online Orientation successfully, if you have not already done so.

LOGGING INTO COURSES – ESTABLISHING ATTENDANCE If you are in only one Online course, you must establish attendance. Establishing attendance means posting to one forum/discussion topic (not the Meet-n-Greet). If you are in multiple Online courses, by posting to the forum/discussion topic in at least one Online course you are establishing attendance in ALL Online courses you are enrolled into for that particular semester.

START/END DATES Each week will begin on a Tuesday and end the following Monday at 11:59 p.m. (CST/CDT). Each week, you will need to complete assignments and assessments which are required to be completed at the end of each week. A chart outlining start/end dates for each week is posted on the next page:

FORUMS/DISCUSSION TOPICS (DTs) All students will be required to participate in weekly forums/discussion topics (DTs). To receive full points for the week, students must post on at least 4 days during the week and have a minimum total of 8 related posts. No credit is given for early or late posts – posts must be made within the corresponding week.

FALL/SPRING BREAK During the fall/spring semester, students will have a 1 week break in which students will not be required to be active in their Online course(s). Faculty will also not be available during this time. Any work submitted, uploaded, completed, posted, etc., will not be accepted.

EMAIL ALL students enrolled in Iowa Central courses are given an Iowa Central student email account, which can be accessed via TritonPass. It is important to utilize your Iowa Central Student Email account. This is the primary email address that instructors use to contact students. After you login to TritonPass, your e-mail account can be found by clicking on the Triton Pass Padlock, in the upper-left corner of the main page, then click the “Email” link. This is where you will find your Online Welcome E-mail.

WEBADVISOR WebAdvisor is a system that allows students to view information such as grades, transcripts, financial information, etc. To access WebAdvisor, click on the Triton Pass Padlock, in the upper-left corner of the main page, then click the “WebAdvisor for Students” link (lower left side of padlock menu).

GRADE BOOK Within WebAdvisor, students are expected to utilize Grade Book to check their course progress, such as grades for submitted assignments and exams. Click on “Gradebooks and Attendance,” choose the current term, and then choose the course you want to view.
