Scandinavian pedagogy in a safe environment

At the Swedish School in Vienna, Scandinavian pedagogy is offered in small teaching groups with a high teacher to student ratio. Our school is an open place where children learn and develop together in a safe and calm environment. We have a new team teaching concept and the lessons take place in both Swedish and German with qualified teachers and native speakers. The english language is also implemented in the english lessons and in the after school care. During the year we celebrate both Swedish and Austrian celebrations, and participate in cultural events from both countries. The various languages and cultures represented in our school are important tools in our pedagogy.

The Swedish School in Vienna was founded in 1986 and is a private Swedish foreign school with a Kindergarten, Preschool Class and Elementary School as well as Supplementary Teaching in Swedish. Our activities follow the Swedish curriculum, but we appeal to children of all nationalities. We are proud that today we have students with many different nationalities represented at our school. The school has Öffentlichkeitsrecht, which means that the Austrian state has approved the Swedish school's activities.

We are located in a large villa in scenic Grinzing, North West Vienna, close to green areas and parks and with Vienna's vineyards and Wienerwald as neighbours. The city of Vienna offers a rich cultural life with museums, music and theatre, which are natural elements in our teaching.
