Grading Policy

All three grades of classroom music following the same grading policies.

Music 5/Music 6/Music 7

 1. Participation/In-Class Assignments: 60% (daily participation grade: out of 5 pts.)

Guidelines: 5 daily participation points

1. • 2 Points for being Responsible

Be on time (in assigned seat when tardy bell rings)

Be prepared (music, pencil, homework, etc.)

• 3 Points for doing your Personal Best and being an active participant

  • 2 Points are for being engaged and focused appropriately on instruction/class activities and has required materials

  • 1 point is for contributing to class discussions and/or asks questions and/or is prepared when called on

2. Assessments: 20%

Tests, Projects, and Quizzes are all examples of assessments that will be assigned/administered during the semester.

3. Homework: 20%

Students are expected to complete all homework. If students are absent they should speak with Mr. Decker about any missing work. To receive full credit, homework must be completed on time. I do accept late work but take off 1 point (out of 10) each day until it is turned for a maximum of 5 points. Once work is 5 days past due, the highest grade you may receive is a 5 out of 10 or a 50%.
