Mr. Ryan Decker is a native of Wappingers Falls, NY and spent his later teenage years living in the state of Vermont where he graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam with a vocal concentration and a minor in theater in 2005 and his Master’s degree in Music Education from Boston University in 2009. Since 2005, Mr. Decker has been the 7th-12th grade vocal music teacher and Director of Dramatics in the Sauquoit Valley Central School District, and also currently serves as the Music Content Area Coordinator. He also previously conducted the 5th-6th grade vocal groups in Sauquoit Valley for 17 years. Mr. Decker is a member of both the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), which promote an enriched and balanced music education for all students in our public schools. He is a NYSSMA vocal adjudicator and a frequent vocal soloist in the Mohawk Valley region and is an audio technician for the worship team at his church. Outside of school, he enjoys cheering on his favorite baseball team (Let’s Go Mets!) and participating in a variety of outdoor activities. He happily resides in greater Utica area with his wife and 2 children.
