Women in Manufacturing: Build Your Future

Course Description:

Are you curious about how things are made? Do you love to build, design, or solve problems? This exciting summer course is your chance to step into the world of manufacturing and skilled trades right here in our high school shop space!

Women in Manufacturing is an immersive, hands-on program designed specifically for female students entering 6th through 12th grades. Our goal is to introduce you to the incredible, high-tech, and high-demand opportunities available in manufacturing, engineering, and the skilled trades.

***While this class will be focused on women in manufacturing with the hope of increasing female participation in manufacturing and engineering classes; this summer school class will be open and available for all students interested in joining on a first come basis.

What You Will Do:

• Hands-On Projects: Get direct experience working with tools, materials, and processes used in real-world manufacturing. You will complete fun, creative, and challenging projects in the shop space.

• Meet the Pros: Spend time with inspiring female industry professionals—engineers, welders, machinists, designers, and business owners—who are excelling in their fields. Learn about their career paths, ask questions, and get valuable advice.

• Explore Opportunities: Discover the academic pathways and shop courses (like Welding, CAD, Woodworking, and Robotics) available at the high school that can lead you to a rewarding career.

• Skill Building: Develop essential workplace skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, attention to detail, and shop safety.

Course Goals:

1. Introduce students to the diverse and rewarding trades available through shop classes.

2. Connect students with successful female mentors in the manufacturing industry.

3. Empower students to see themselves in technical roles and explore nontraditional career paths.

No prior shop experience is required! Just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm. Come build your confidence, network, and future with us!
