Students who will be in middle school next fall may sign up for two classes. Availalble classes are:
Intro to 6th Grade
This is the perfect class for getting used to our building, making new friends and having fun learning in the four core areas of math, science, social studies and language arts. Mapping the building, paper airplane experiments, graphing and improving your reading and writing skills are all part of our program. This class is available to students entering the 6th grade in the fall.
Middle School Math
Do you want to sharpen your math skills? Review and practice the math skills you have already learned and get a taste of what middle school math is all about.
Summer PE
Students will have a chance to participate in a variety of physical activities that will involve individual sports, team sports and lifelong sports. Students will also have the opportunity to improve upon both skill related and health related components of physical fitness. If you enjoy physical activity both indoors and outdoors, this is the class for you. Come join the fun!
Kids in the Kitchen
This class is for students who would like to learn the basics of cooking. Students will learn concepts of measuring, equipment uses, cooking techniques, safety in the kitchen and nutrition. Students will enjoy the “fruits” of their labor each day!
Outdoor Summer Adventures
Want to spend time outside? Want to do fun projects inside? Learn about animals and their habitats? Explore the woods and wetland?Special guest visitors? Play games? Don't be bored this summer! Join us for an adventure!
Creative Writing
Ready to transform your thoughts and ideas into captivating stories, powerful poems, and persuasive speeches? Join the creative writing course and unlock the joy of writing! This class is designed to help you explore the boundless possibilities of language and expression. You will learn enhanced writing skills and confidence in your creative abilities. You will also create a diverse portfolio of original poems, short stories, speeches, and journal entries. This course will help you gain a deeper understanding of different writing genres, techniques, and the inspiration you need to unleash your creative potential.

Drama Camp
If you enjoy dramatic arts and being creative, Drama Camp might be a great choice for you! Students will gather at Superior High School in the Performing Arts Center each day. This class is open to students who have completed grades 4 through 11. Drama camp runs both sessions, so you'll only sign up for one class.
Beginning Spartan Athletic Development
This is a great opportunity to learn the same lifts and drills that you will use in high school!
Come and get fit while having fun! If you are in athletics, this course is the foundation for all Spartan athletes. This class is for incoming 7th, 8th and 9th grade students; beginner specific
and held at Superior High School. See the next page for more information.
Transportation from SMS to SHS and back will be provided for students who are taking an SMS class first and want to take Spartan Athletic Development for the second session.
Bus will Leave SMS at 10:05am. Bus will drop kids back at SMS at 12:25pm.
Advanced Orchestra
For students who have participated in Orchestra before. Students will learn new skills
and intermediate to advanced music reading.
Beginning Orchestra
For Orchestra students entering 6th Grade and other Orchestra students who wish to be in two sessions and serve as peer helpers to new string students. Students will learn the basics of playing a string instrument and beginning music reading.
