Summer School - Afternoon options

We provide transportation from summer school to afternoon care options for your child.

You will be responsible for picking your child up at the end of their day.

Your child will be transported from summer school to wrap care, UWS camp or summer playgrounds - please indicate in PowerSchool Registration.

Your child will be transported to Hunter Safety on the Pink Route.

**While these community programs are not affiliated with the School District of Superior; through collaboration, we're able to offer transportation to these afternoon options for families seeking full day programming.

YMCA Summer School

Wrap-Around Care

11:30pm - 5:00pm Mon-Thurs

7:00am - 5:00pm on Fridays

Northern Lights Elementary

The Y will be providing Wrap-Around Care for Summer School students aged 5-12 this summer. YMCA Staff will greet students and then lead them through an afternoon of fun activities such as group games, crafts, outdoor exploration, team building, swimming, free play on the playground, and more!

Wrap Care will begin as soon as summer school lets out and will run until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

On Tuesdays and Thursday, we will head to the Y for swimming from 3:30-4:30 and pick-up will be from the Y.

CANCELLATION POLICY
A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due at the time of enrollment. If you need to cancel a week of care, any June cancellations need to be submitted before May 25th in order to receive a refund. Any July cancellations must be in by June 25th.

Jackets Afternoon Adventure Camps

(students must have completed kindergarten)

Jacket Afternoon Adventure Camps offers a fun, extended day for K–5 students enrolled in the School District of Superior summer school program. Campers will be bused from their elementary schools to the UW–Superior campus, where a welcoming and enthusiastic staff team will guide students through hands-on activities, campus exploration, and community discovery throughout the afternoon. The positive, high-energy environment helps keep curiosity alive and makes every afternoon adventure memorable.

$100 per session

The Summer Playground Program

11:30pm - 4:30pm

Monday - Friday

June 15 - August 14

Our goal is to provide supervised play and outdoor fun in a safe environment for children ages 5-11 in Superior. In order to set the foundation for this, we staff each program site with staff members who have been trained in CPR and First Aid. We also partner with the School District of Superior to provide free lunch and snack for program participants as well as any other children under the age of 18.

When sending your child to participate in our program, we suggest dressing them in layers as the temperature fluctuates frequently throughout the day and we are an outdoor program! In addition, sunscreen and water bottles are great things to have at the playground. Please make sure that if your child is participating in our trips to the YMCA that you also send them with the proper swim wear for the pool.

Occasionally we will have to cancel program due to inclement weather, but we do our best to remain open as much as possible!

Hunter Safety Classes

12:30 pm - 3:30pm

18 students max per session

Monday - Thursday

June 15-18 OR

July 6-9

@ Superior Trap Club 5642 Hwy 35

Students, ages 10 and up, attend a multi-day, in-person course where students learn hunter responsibility and safety through lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, practical exercises and individual study. The students take a multiple-choice exam and complete a hands-on, skills-based assessment based on information found in the printed student manual and taught during class. Upon successfully completing all portions of the course, the student is awarded a hunter education safety certificate.

Students will be introduced to Trap Club as well during this course.
Students will be outside for the majority of the class; so dress for the weather.
NO Cell Phones may be used during this class.

These specific classes are reserved for students attending summer school within Superior and you will enroll within PowerSchool Enrollment.

Students are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer ID Number. This number must be given to their instructor on the first day of class.

This class will be taught by licensed DNR instructors. There is a cost of $10 per student, paid directly to the instructor at the course.
