Back to School Basics:
Having a music stand at home is highly recommended.
If your summer hasn't included a lot of practicing, now is a great time to tune up your instrument, make sure it is not in need of repair, or check with the music store if you need a rental instrument returned to you .
Do you have rosin and a cleaning rag? Shoulder rest or rock stop?
If you need review, check what you remember by practicing scales and music left in your folder from last year (if you kept it). As long as you do it with good technique and posture, any playing can help prepare your brain and fingers for orchestra class again.

Highlights of our Program
SPASD orchestra students participate annually in the "M&M" Mentoring Program where they assist younger students. Mentors are able to receive Service Learning Credit for their work.
In December, a field trip opportunity is offered for students to take a day trip to the Kalahari Resort at Wisconsin Dells where they perform holiday tunes in the lobby and then spend the day in the park, followed by a pizza dinner.
In February, students have the opportunity to perform at the WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Trips, guest artist visits, and special events also take place as opportunities arise.
