5 - Additional Activities

Click on the link to create your own composition in 3/4 or 4/4 time! This is a great way to practice the music and math concepts from our hip hop unit, but with the help of Mario. The icons at the top are different sounds. Use the scrolling feature to move on to the next measure. You have the ability to change the tempo, and add a repeat sign to loop the track. The "E" button allows you to erase one note at a time, and the "clear" button deletes everything. The gray characters at the bottom are examples. You can use the "Download" button to save your work, but when you want to play it again, you need to drag the downloaded file into the website again. You can practice that with the two file that I have here:

Mario Sequencing Examples

You will need to download the file first, and then drag it into the website program. This will be easiest using Google Chrome.

This version of the website also adds in the Bass Clef, sharps and flats, is a little easier to save and open files, and provides different sounds. Have fun exporing!

Tour the Animated World of Beethoven

Use this link above to discover and learn about Beethoven through animated detective work. If it moves, it is a clue to piecing together what Beethoven's life was like!

Beethoven's 9th Symphony 360 Virtual Performance

Step on stage with the Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin Philharmonic) to experience the rehearsal of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. The experience is best with headphones, and has 2 cameras that allow you to see anywhere on stage. Be ready to get up close and personal!

Are you finding it more difficult to sing because your voce is changing? Is it cracking all of the time? I get it. It feels impossible and embarrassing. But guess what?? It happens to everyone; I'm not kidding! Advice that every voice teacher has ever told me is to just embrace it and let it happen. A fun way to get more comfortable with the break in your voice (passagio: the transition between your chest and head voice) is by learning to yodel, which uses that break as a part of the talent. Learn to yodel for free! This course has 5 lessons to teach you step by step how to yodel. It also includes historical information and provides definitions of terms.

This can be used to help learn and review the concept of ostinatos, texture and layering, composing, and mixing a song...very similar to when we made puppets and made our own version of "Harry Potter Puppet Pals." Each "person" makes a different sound, and has user-friendly features to help students record and download their mix.
