Meet Ms. Vis
This (2025-2026) is my 39th year of teaching at SCS!! For many years now, my class list has included at least one child of a former student! This year I am teaching the children of 9 former students! What a blessing to see the heritage of Christian education being passed along through the generations. God continues to be faithful!
After 38 years of teaching 3rd grade here at SCS, I made a big teaching switch. I am now the K-4 Math and Reading Resource teacher. Math and Reading are both favorites, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with classroom teachers and students to provide support for all of our students to thrive in their learning.
My students have told me that I have “lots of favorites.” (It’s hard to narrow them down to just a few!) I love opportunities to play the piano, whether it be at church to help lead worship or at home by myself. The Pacific Coast is one of my preferred destinations to marvel at God’s creation and to relax and get refreshed. Books are certainly towards the top of my favorites list! I have lots of books at home and in my classroom, and sharing a good book with my students is one of the highlights of my day! Math has always been a favorite, and I find words to be intriguing, illuminating, and inspiring! After a busy week, I love to unwind with a crafting project, a card or board game, or a favorite crime drama.
I am grateful for Sunnyside Christian School and for the people and experiences that have been a part of the past 38 years, and I am looking forward to seeing what Year 39 has in store. It is a privilege and a blessing to be a part of the SCS community!
