The state of South Carolina is divided into 6 districts under the SCASC organization. Sumter High School is in district 2 which includes Sumter, Lee, Darlington, Florence, Horry, Williamsburg, Georgetown, Marlboro, Clarendon, and Marion Counties.

The Southern Association of Student Councils comprises fifteen Southeastern states and offers high school and middle-level student leaders chances to connect, enhance leadership abilities, exchange ideas, engage in service projects, and gain inspiration to effect positive change in their schools, communities, and personal lives. Adult advisors also reap similar advantages, along with the opportunity to share leadership curricula and strategies to support their students in becoming more effective leaders.

The National Student Council (NSC) is a nationwide network dedicated to empowering and arming students with the tools to cultivate and refine their leadership abilities. It offers a structured framework for transforming students into the next generation of leaders, complete with milestones to acknowledge and celebrate their advancements. South Carolina is affiliated with Region 3 of NatStuCo, alongside North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Washington D.C.
