Welcome to Orchestracada!
Who we are - Orchestracada is a community of musicians that enjoy rehearsing and performing a variety of classical and pop tunes, learning and teaching musicianship, instrumental technique, music theory, and rehearsal and performance etiquette. We accept all ages and levels of musicians who are ready to work and learn with us. Strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion can participate. Pianists may trade off between piano and percussion parts.
What we do - We meet at 4:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the fall, winter, and spring terms at the Eagle Creek campus of Summit Learning Charter. Mentors instruct each section during rehearsals. Beginning students are usually finished by 5:30, and advanced players stay to play together until 6:30. For summer term, we rehearse just once each week, from 6:00 to 8:30 on Tuesday evenings.
How to join - Contact orchestracada@gmail.com or show up at a rehearsal to learn more about what we do. When you are ready to join, complete the registration form to provide us with contact information and details about your instrument and skill level.
How to pay - Mentors (advanced players willing to teach others) participate for free. Students (of any age) pay $50.00 per term ($25.00 for summer). Summit students in the Elementary Options Program may have orchestra paid for out of their school stipend. Summit students in grades 6-12 may be reimbursed for their registration fees when they pass the course at the end of each term. Checks can be made out to Orchestracada.
Music is a discipline - We expect students to practice between rehearsals and pay attention to their mentors’ instructions. Mentors are eager to work with students who show dedication to the art and skill required, at any level.
Concert Dress - There is no particular clothing requirement for rehearsals, although we appreciate modest, clean, and respectful attire. For performances, we usually wear black and white dressy clothing, with pants or skirts at knee length or longer. The goal is to look good without standing out from the crowd.
Calendar is available at orchestracada.org, with rehearsal and performance dates.
