Despite an involvement in (English) country dancing as a child, Iain remained blissfully unaware of the existence of Scottish Country Dancing until some time in the '90s when he was invited to join in a dance band one evening. Some of the tunes were a bit fast and furious for a first time fiddler so Iain was tempted to join in a few dances.
As so often happens with a young person in a new settings, Iain quickly got involved with the seedy underworld of SCD and would often attract scornful glances due to clapping, whooping and other such extravagances. On more than one occasion he was even reported to have been seen smiling whilst dancing.
After a decade or so of dancing Iain decided to take on teacher training and having beaten that challenge also sets his mind to devising a dance now and then.
Iain has just finished a stint teaching the Lower Hutt juniors class and continues to tutor at Eastbourne club; he plays music for ceilidhs and SCD and occasionally even gets to dance!
