Hazel Fish

As a child in the UK I was always busy taking ballet and tap dancing lessons, and continued dancing through my university years where I trained as a physio and also qualified as a ballet teacher.

Both of these early influences shape the way I teach.

I moved to NZ in 2008 with my husband and three young sons, and soon they were dancing at the local SCD club in our small rural community halfway down the South Island.

It wasn't long before I was dancing, and then started preparing for my Teaching Certificate, which I completed in 2017.

Since then I have continued teaching at the Waimate club, and also two NZ Summer Schools and an Australian Winter School.

I homeschooled our sons until they left home for university in recent years, and then looked for what I could do with my time in my local community.

Soon I was working in the local pharmacy, and two years on and I have just completed my qualification as a Pharmacy Technician.

In my teaching I like to focus on how each dancer, as a member of a team in the set, can contribute to the overall success and enjoyment of each dance.
