Ewan began playing the accordion at 14 and a half, and over the past 19 years, he has become a key figure in his band, contributing to the release of nine CDs and countless performances. The band has played at various events, from Accordion and Fiddle Clubs to Ceilidhs, Old Tyme dances, and festivals, including a memorable appearance on BBC’s "Countryfile" during an Eightsome Reel performance.
Inspired by the Scottish music he experienced at high school ceilidhs, Ewan developed a deep passion for the accordion. He finds great joy in Scottish music — its rhythm, style, and the happiness it brings to audiences. He is dedicated to keeping this musical tradition alive and at the forefront for future generations.
Highlights of his musical career include performances at the Royal Highland Show and multiple broadcasts on the BBC's "Take the Floor." His talents have taken him internationally, with performances in the Netherlands, Australia, and Argentina for RSCDS (Royal Scottish Country Dance Society) events. He enjoys attending the RSCDS Summer School at St. Andrews, where he connects with musicians worldwide.
Ewan is passionate about keeping music fun and accessible for everyone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he created "The Stagger Inn," an online pub where people could meet, enjoy music, and even dance from the comfort of their homes. Through this initiative, Ewan developed a worldwide community of friends and fellow music lovers. Looking ahead, he remains focused on promoting Scottish dance music, ensuring its vibrant traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
