Week Seven May 4-May 8, 2020

I am trying out putting all the assignments for the week on a weekly page instead of by subjects. Please let me know what you think. If it works, I will go back and make weekly pages for the past weeks but decided to try it out for a couple weeks first. Unless other wise noted, all assignments will be Monday to Monday. I will post them on Monday and they are due beginning of the day the next Monday. I want you to have the weekends in case you need them.

Please note: The social studies test will be posted on this page on Wednesday. Spelling test and read-aloud will be posted late Monday.

READING: Please do the weekly book report (on another book not this week's story please) and upload. The story for this week is Good-bye Curtis on pages 179-195. Please read it to your child once, have them read it to you once and read it a third time. After the third reading, there will be a set of questions to be answered about the story. Please have your child complete the questions without the book. Then upload the questions. Students do not have to do the think and respond questions at the end of the story in the textbook. Book report is due 5/8 and the story questions are due 5/11.

MATH: Please do Ch 14 Time Practice 3 pgs. 109-112 and upload. Due 5/11. Please have your child do the Ch 11 Money test below on their own with no help and upload the pages or a sheet of paper with the answers. Due 5/11. It is at the bottom of this page.

****MATH UPDATE WEDNESDAY Please by 5/11 have your student complete Ch 14 Practice 2 pgs. 106-108. I forgot that last week I did not assign all of Practice 2. Thanks. *********

SPELLING/SIGHT WORDS: This week's spelling words are: 1. family 2. mother 3. father 4. sister 5. brother 6. baby 7. aunt 8. uncle 9. grandfather 10. grandmother. Sentences are due Friday 5/8 and I will put up the video on Monday evening. Please have the spelling test in by Monday morning 5/11. I have put the rest of the year's spelling words on Spelling City if you want to look ahead.

Please test your student on Week 2's sight words: fraction, Africa, killed, melody, bottom, trip, hole, poor, let’s, fight, surprise, French, died, beat, exactly. Please either write down how many they got right and if any wrong, please tell me which words, and email their results to me by Monday May 11.

RELIGION: Please start Ch 16 which was sent home March 16. Please read pgs. 183-189 and do the activity on pg. 187. Please upload pg 187 only, due Monday May 11.

WRITING: This week instead of the writing journal, please have your student do Lesson 20 Connecting Words And, But, Or on pgs.51-52 in the writing workbook. Please read the top of page 51 with them and do problems 1. and 7. with them and then have them complete the rest on their own (you may read the problems to them if you need to). Upload due Monday May 11.

SOCIAL STUDIES: The test on Ch 2 Lessons 1-6 will be put up by Wednesday morning. Next week we will start Ch 3 The World Around Us and will be tying in with reading Beginner's World Atlas for our story in reading.

SCIENCE: Please have your student read the 2 pages on desert below and have your student take the quiz below. Due Monday May 11.
