Module 6 focused on “Resourcing Health Systems”, covering topics such as resource allocation, ethics debating, private healthcare financing, data collection tools, data analysis, human resources (overview and challenges), decolonising research methodology, human resource strategies, music & medicine, and expanding your education. Through this module, I developed a questioning and inquiring mind, linking concepts across ethics, resource management, and research practices. I explored how ethical principles guide decisions in resource allocation, the balance between efficiency and autonomy in interventions like Depo-Provera, and how data collection and analysis must be conducted responsibly to protect participants and inform policy.
This process strengthened my critical thinking, systems thinking, and ethical reasoning, as I learned to view health systems as interconnected networks where financial, human, and operational factors influence outcomes. Researching and answering my own integrated questions helped me cultivate an academically rigorous approach and highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision-making. I also reflected on how human resource challenges, financing, and governance affect equitable service delivery, and how innovative approaches, such as music and medicine, can enhance education and community engagement.
Overall, Module 6 reinforced the importance of curiosity, analysis, and ethical responsibility in health systems work and encouraged me to continue asking questions that link the structural, operational, and moral dimensions of healthcare, preparing me to be an effective and thoughtful agent for change.
