This activity allowed me to challenge my thinking around team dynamics and my role within it. Following the videos we watched in class about teamwork strategies and Belbin's Team roles, we also completed an online assessment to better understand the roles we are good at within the team.
This activity required our group to collaborate on which roles we are best at and what we should do in the presence of conflict. As I joined my team at the end of block 2, I have been welcomed by my group. Although we faced a small amount of conflict, we referred back to the drafted contract and were able to meet and resolve our conflict.
In order to comprehend childhood obesity, this exercise applied the 'Draw Toast' method, which was based on a work by Finegood et al. (2010). I read the given paper, made a graphic depiction of the intricacy of the issue, and took pictures of our illustrations for discussion. In order to solve problems effectively, I tried to understand the complex nature of obesity.
In the final week of module 1, this exercise focuses on handling and resolving conflict. I took the Thomas-Killmann test to determine my preferred conflict management approach after seeing a video on conflict resolution strategies. In order to complete the task, our group evaluated each member's skills and shortcomings in handling conflict.
The task for this week is to use Google Drawings to create a Conflict Tree based on a thorough case study of a Johannesburg primary healthcare facility. We took into account the ramifications or outcomes of the issue as they were explained in the case study, which we represented as the tree's leaves. Using the supplied Google Drawings link, we worked together to create our Conflict Tree.
