Throughout my time living in America my parents have made many different dishes. However, one of our family favorites is chicken kebabs. The first time I ever had a chicken kebab was when I originally moved to the U.S. I remember asking my father how I was supposed to eat it without cutting myself with the point edge and then seemingly pulling off all the vegetables like every other eight year old would. To this day I don't have them as often as I would like, but it is still one of my favorite meals.
To begin my cooking I cut up two chicken thighs (I did this on my prep day and let them sit in the refrigerator over night).
Then, I began to make the marinade. I mixed together the following ingredients: yogurt, olive oil, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, garlic.
After applying the marinade on the chicken skewers, I placed several of the kebabs on a baking sheet on a tray and placed them in the oven (I don't believe the oven was hot enough so it took around 45 minutes to cook both sides)
I took the kebabs out after 20 minutes in order to flip them over and cook the other side.
I then put the kebabs back in and here is the final result.
Enjoy!
This week's challenge was to create a food pyramid drawing including different types of food. I made the decisions to choose high protein foods. I was very unsure what protein food I should have done having made plenty of other meats earlier this year, but I soon came to the decision to make chicken kebabs.
