JROTC Cadet Teams

TX-948 has a variety of teams for cadets to participate in.  Activities associated with these teams are known as "Leadership Development Requirements" or "LDRs".  LDR activities are AFJROTC-sponsored and school-approved teams and/or committees that normally plan or participate in events conducted outside classroom hours while being supervised by an instructor.  Committees plan events such as the Military Ball, parades, award ceremonies, etc., while the teams participate in CyberPatriots, drill competitions, Color Guard, Saber Team, quadcopters, physical training, etc.  Participation on these teams is optional, however, we encourage cadets to join at least one of these teams as it helps to enhance a cadet's JROTC experience.

CyberPatriots

CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program. Its purpose is to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company.  Teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services in a six hour period.

JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB)

The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a nationally recognized academic competition created exclusively for JROTC students.  By participating, cadets learn the values of citizenship, leadership, academic competition, and college opportunity.  Benefits of participating in the Academic Bowl include:
