We’re excited to welcome you to the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) at Lake View High School—home of the Maidens and Chiefs!
AFJROTC is a program for high school students that helps you become a better citizen, learn leadership skills, and get involved in your community. You’ll also learn about air and space science, and how the Air Force works. One of the best parts of AFJROTC is doing fun activities that help others in your school and town.
Our program is built on the Air Force’s core values:
Integrity First – always do what’s right,
Service Before Self – help others before yourself,
Excellence In All We Do – always try your best.
In class, you’ll learn about the history of the Air Force, how flight works, space exploration, and more. You’ll also build important life skills like teamwork, discipline, leadership, and staying physically fit.
AFJROTC gives you leadership opportunities you won’t find in other school activities. The program is led by students, called cadets, who take charge of daily tasks and help run the Cadet Group. You’ll learn how to follow and lead others. You do not have to join the military—AFJROTC is all about helping you grow as a person.
To be part of the program, you need to:
Take the AFJROTC class,
Join in at least five events during the school year (like parades, award ceremonies, and the Military Ball),
Be able to do physical activities and follow school rules.
If you’re new, you can wear a JROTC polo shirt instead of the full uniform. We also encourage you to join a team and help with community service to get the most out of the program.
This website is here to help students, parents, and anyone interested learn more about AFJROTC. Take a look around to see what cadets do and what you can expect if you join!
