Foundations of Art

Final written reflection

My art skills have changed a lot thanks to Foundations of Art. If you look back you can see how much different my art drawing capabilities and skills were from now. Back then I used to have lower quality drawings (which as of today they still aren't that great) with little color. I preferred to have almost no to none color because I thought it was a hassle to add color. Which realistically made me more efficient at finishing it and turning it in on time> But now I have more color to my art work and I prefer to do it that way. When I finish my art work I'm more happy with the results and feel more accomplished and proud. Sure it may take time but at least it looks better.

My most challenging project was the 84 colors acrylic painting. I struggled with that one the most because I absolutely hate painting. It's annoying and takes too long for me and never turns out the way I want it. It takes a lot of patience and I'm not that very patient sometimes. It also forced me to put more colors than I wanted and I had to figure out where I wanted to put them and force colors into places they don't belong for the assignment. The painting turned out sorta okay to me but I still wished I did some things differently and better. My favorite art project is actually a tie between my assemblage sculpture and my duck stamp. I love both because they are bird related but also because I'm proud of how they turned out. My favorite part of the duck stamp is the reflection in the water because the part came out way better than I thought it would and my favorite part of my assemblage was the fact it almost looks like an actual robin. I got its proportions pretty right But the only thing I wish I did better was its eyes other than that I think it looks good.

Currently right now I don't have any artistic goals planned for my future but I do see making some art somewhere down that road. The chances are I'll make it for fun rather than a career partially because I don't think my art is good enough to sell and also because I kind of want to keep my art. Now for this summer I will be drawing animals like birds, foxes, sea creatures, etc for the fun of it and for friends and family. I prefer to draw digitally sometimes on stuff like procreate or stuff like that just because it makes it easier and less annoying to work with. But other than that I don't think I'll be doing much more art after highschool except for some things here and there for the fun of it.
