Scratchboard drawing

For this project we had to recreate an image from a photo. For my photo reference I used an image of Sugarloaf from my phone. I tried to capture all of the trails and building on the mountain and keep the scratchboard drawing as accurate to the photo reference as possible. This project relates to my life because I learned to ski on Sugarloaf and have continued to ski there with my family ever since. For this project I started at the bottom strip and then worked from the top down. I used a flathead screwdriver and a wall tack to scratch the paper. I also used my photo reference and a ruler to draw the boarder. This project evolved as the trails were drawn and the image of Sugarloaf became clearer. I experimented with different tools to find the right one that would scratch the paper. My next steps could be to add more detail to the trees on the mountain.
