During the Freshman Year of Green Tech students will enroll in Intro to Energy for one semester and Ag Explorations the other semester. From these semesters of study, students choose to specialize in either Renewable Energy or Sustainable Agriculture. This will determine their coursework for the next three years in Green Tech.
Energy is everywhere. People love being able to flip a switch and have the lights turn on, but do you think about keeping your soda cold in the refrigerator or what's making the water for your shower hot? Students get a survey of the different sources of energy, uses, and aim to make Olathe West more energy efficient in their semester project.
Agriculture touches our lives every day! Agriculture is a high-tech industry that provides us with food and clothing. What would your life look like without agriculture? Students spend time learning about the major agriculture pathways: agribusiness, ag mechanics, animal science, environmental services/natural resources, food science and and plant science.
