How to Identify your own biases

What is a bias?

A bias is an opinion or belief that is in favor of or against an idea. For an example, some people have a biased opinion that vanilla is better than chocolate.

Tips on Identifying your own bias

  • Do you have any religious opinions/beliefs?

  • Do you ever strongly disagree with someone because your opinions?

  • Identifying your morals

  • choosing facts that are are leaned towards a opinion

If you know your biased, these are some things you can do:

Everyone has biases, but awareness is key. For an example, some biases are harmless like having a favorite food. Important biases you should be aware of is having beliefs on certain races. When applying for a certain jobs and etc., knowing your bias is helpful. If you do find yourself having ideas/ opinions on different races, training is something that is proven effective towards your biases.
