Our drawing tutorials were weekly guided videos in which we had to take notes on and draw different techniques which helped us learn how to sketch detailed drawings. We used these sketches throughout the semester while working on our Heart Valve Model and Capstone project at the same time. The final goal of these sketches is so we learn proper techniques to create beautifully done sketches of our Capstone project.
Technical Drawing - object drawn in a precise and detailed way
Perspective Drawing - a realistic representation of 3D objects that uses different components of drawing techniques like vanishing points, horizons, shading, and foreshortening. It's usually used in technical drawings.
Orthographic Drawing - a 3D object represented by different views of a 2D drawing. Some common viewpoints are the top, front, and right side.
Vignettes - a box that sits behind the object to create a sense of depth to it. Usually used as a frame to draw your attention to the sketch
Horizon Line - determines the eye level of the sketch and creates perspective
Vanishing Point - point in space that is the farthest point from the view.
I feel like throughout the many weeks of doing drawing tutorials I've grown as an artist and can create precise drawings of many everyday items now. With this stressful semester, it was kind of nice and relaxing to sit back and watch these drawing tutorials and it felt like a break from my heavy workload. I know so much about for to create technical sketches and feel confident in my drawing abilities. I feel proud of the sketches I have accomplished because I came from a place of having no drawing abilities.
