The human body uses homeostasis to maintain a balance in the body. In this project we worked to show how blood pressure will maintain homeostasis through a lab, a write up, and a poster.

The heart can sense changes in blood pressure, sending signals to the brain, which then sends appropriate instructions back to the heart. If blood pressure is too high, the heart should slow down; if it is too low, the heart should speed up. The cardiovascular center provides a rapid, neural mechanism for the regulation of blood pressure by managing cardiac output or by adjusting blood vessel diameter. Baroreceptors are sensory neurons that monitor arterial blood pressure. The kidneys provide a hormonal mechanism for the regulation of blood pressure by managing blood volume. We ran a lab to test blood pressure homeostasis by having subjects blood pressure tested before running for two minutes, right after, two minutes after, and ten minutes after. We had great results and our hypothesis was proven correct.

Independent Variable-An independent variable is something that doesn't change
Dependent Variable- the variable being tested in a scientific experiment
Control group- standard to which comparisons are made in an experiment
Homeostasis- The equilibrium that can be found inside an organism or body maintained by the body systems.
Trial- an experiment to test quality, value, or usefulness to the hypothesis, lab, and/or over all topic.
Hypothesis-An educated guess that can be tested or an If then statement
Experimental trial-a test, trial, or tentative procedure, esp. one for the purpose of discovering something unknown or of testing a principle
Horomone- a regulatory substance produced in an organism and transported in tissue fluids such as blood or sap to stimulate specific cells or tissues into action
This project, I think that my group and I did really well at communicating and collaborating. We were able to balance the work load and use both the skills during the lab and the write up to finish everything on time and organized. We were able to effectively measure what we needed and analysis with easy understanding of each other. I think that we all got along great and that contributed to our ability to work together.
Some things I think we could work on are conscientious learning and critical thinking. I think that because we got along so well, it put some holes in our plans to think hard about what we were doing. We sometimes got carried away in our conversation that we were wasting time. I also think we were pretty stagnant in our plan and had some trouble adjusting when we needed to. These were small problems, but they are things we could easily fix in the next project.
