Rube Goldberg Machine

What is a Rube Goldberg Machine?

A rube Goldberg machine is a machine intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way, relying on chain reactions. The name is based off of the american cartoonist that originally created the idea of the complicated machine. Here is a photo example of what one would look like.

Goal in Mind

For my group of Roarke Arnal, Scottie-Marie Barksdale, and Makena Alcazar we had to make a machine that had a theme of a underwater theme park and the goal is that a marble(representing a person) is rolling all throughout the board(walking through a theme park) and would have a fun time going to different rides(simple machines) and watching shows. We had guidelines to follow to get the best minimum grade and that was to have at least 10 steps,  multiple energy transfers, and multiple different simple machines.

Reflection

After the work that I have done I would say that I am proud of what I have accomplished and I think I did all that I needed. There was a couple of set-back I had though that effected our group and that is how I made a screw(simple machine) multiple times and had lots of trial and error in them which funny enough none were used but we did resort to a different one that works more flawlessly and mine could ever have so it all worked out in the end. I was the main person who helped with the theme so for example I did most of the painting, made the cutouts of ocean-life, and made the machines to resemble the characteristics of the ocean.  I had a good time building with my team-mates and look forward to my next build.
