Our process: At the start, as a group we thought of all the possible problems to help or solve obesity. At the start we picked to spreed awareness by making a poster and getting it incorporated in the high school newspaper. But we're surprised to soon find out that the problem is that people don't know about it but people don't want to do anything to help it, also nobody actually listens to posters. We had to think of another solution. It wasn't easy but we had the idea to make it required for high schoolers to take P.E. all 4 years which would lower childhood obesity rates. But we do realize that not everyone will probably be so willing to take P.E. all 4 years so we add classes like yoga P.E. or wrestling P.E. in hope kids would want to generally take P.E.. Finally to complete this idea our plan was to take this slideshow we made an take it to the N.U.S.D. board in hope they would like it just as much as we did. Then if they agreed we would take it to surrounding school districts and then on.
Ask:
We identified our problem after brainstorming, and decided that obesity would be our main focus. We knew there was no way to entirely solve obesity so we decided to focus on just helping childhood obesity in the USA.
Research:
We spent around a day or two separately researching and annotating articles. Once everyone had finished there research we shared with the group.
Imagine:
We first thought of created a poster and spreading awareness but we scrapped it, then we decided we wanted to required High school P.E. for all 4 years.
Plan:
Our plan was to hopefully end up presenting something to the N.U.S.D. school board it hopes they would agree with us and if they did we would move on to other school districts.
Create:
We ended up deciding to create a slideshow which everything you would ever want to know about obesity, including the causes, effects, and our solution.
Test:
Since to actually test our solution we would have to schedule a meeting with the school board we are currently unable to test.
Improve:
To finalize our solution we wanted to improve our slideshow and make sure it was in tip-top shape.
Data analysis:
The data I decide to analyze is a graph showing the increase in childhood obesity from 1963 - 2018. From this I found in 1980 to 2018 there was a dramatic increase most likely due to the upcoming technology and children getting less and less exercise. another thing I found is from 1963 - 1980 it only increased a couple percent but after that it went significantly up.
Reflection:
I think that one thing I did well was being able to design google slides and make them look aesthetically pleasing. Another thing I did well was being able to find and display lot of good information towards my group. I think that one thing I want to keep working on is my ability to continually work on the slide and not lose interest. Another thing I want to work on is I didn't communicate with my group as much as I would of liked.
