To start this project, my group decided to surf the web to look for interesting, complex furniture designs. Once we had a general idea of what we wanted to build we began to look for a unique spot to place our bench. The spot we chose to place our bench is very important to our project since we needed to place it where we maximize shade, and decrease sun exposure. We placed it towards the front of the school where students walk coming back from harvest. This will maximize use because students will look for a place to sit when they are back. Since our bench will be sitting on grass and dirt, we use pressure treated, and redwood wood so the wood does not deteriorate over time. Our overall price for the bench was $95 which was one of the cheapest, cost efficient benches.
This project was very quick but I believe it went well. I was very easily able to determine what part of the project I was going to be in charge of as well as what content and data I needed to gather. My group's communication skills were competent and we were persistent in completing this project on time. However, if I could go back and change a few things about this project it would be changing how much time we had, and not having a budget. If I had more time and money to work on this project I think I could create a more complex piece of furniture for our outdoors. Having a budget creates limits on all of our possibilities. I liked this project overall and I would be happy to do it again with more time.
