This project focuses on creating conceptual sketches as a way to strengthen our sketching skills for the senior project. By rapidly exploring ideas through loose, low-pressure sketches, we are able to think more creatively and visually before committing to a final design. Conceptual sketching helps us experiment with form, composition, and function while identifying strengths and weaknesses in our ideas early on. The process emphasizes improvement through practice, reflection, and iteration rather than perfection. Overall, this project prepares us to approach our senior project with clearer ideas, stronger visuals, and greater confidence in our sketching abilities.
Over the course of the year, my conceptual sketches showed clear growth in both quality and confidence. Early sketches were rough and uncertain, but they helped me get comfortable putting ideas on paper without overthinking. As the year went on, my sketches became more detailed, intentional, and effective at communicating ideas. I also learned how to iterate quickly, using feedback and revisions to improve each concept. Overall, the year-long sketching process strengthened my skills and better prepared me for the demands of the senior project.
