Hypokinetic Disease Project

What is a hypokinetic disease?

A hypokinetic disease develops due to deficiency or absence of exercise or movement. This can consist of diabetes, coronary heart disease, obesity, and more.

our task

We were given the task to research a hypokinetic disease of our preference and apply that knowledge to a poster of which we would then answer the following topics: definition, symptoms, negative impact on quality of life, which health component of fitness it impacts, activities that lower your chances of getting this disease, and the impact that the disease has on a national level.

Hypokinectic Project

the process

I started off this project by choosing to collaborate with my classmates Reiko and Phebe. After debating our options, we decided to focus our views on coronary heart disease. After finishing the research portion of our project, we attempted to neatly organize it onto our poster by using a poster markers, an array of construction paper, and two color printed diagrams.

Angina: A condition causing severe or acute pain in the chest. This pain commonly spreads to the shoulders, arms, and neck due to insufficient blood supply to the heart.

reflection

This project was a great addition to our class because it allowed those who strive better in the project based and academic portion of school to feel more comfortable in physical education. Alluding to the six C's, I think I played a great part into critical thinking and overall, being a conscientious learner. Not only did I put in a great amount of effort into succeeding in this project, but our team was also able to finish our poster with time to spare at the end due to an abundance of time management. Although, I believe that there is still room for growth in collaboration and communication. I found this an issue because I prefer working individually at times.
