How People Feel About This Year

With the return to the school year, people have a lot of different sets of expectations for the year. Some are optimistic, and others…not so much. So we decided to interview some students and quote how they feel about this school year in their own words. And, of course, some reactions were included, too--because what’s a Hilltopper article without unnecessary commentary?

“Good academic year but social chaos.” “Chaotic academic year and social chaos.”

How fun! Good luck!

“Chaos.”

Expected.

“Social and identity confusion.”

Sorry, bestie.

“I’m just gonna call it an academic year. I have no social life anymore.”

GET A SOCIAL LIFE!

“I’m literally terrified.”

Good.

“I’m really scared.”

You should be.

“I feel good. I’m nervous that I won’t be able to pay for college and I’ll die forever, but overall I’m excited I picked good classes.” “die forever”?

What’s college without a little debt?

“Zero free time.”

Welcome to school!!

“NHD.”

Same.

“How early is too early to drop out?”

Never too early.

“I’m scared.”

WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHERRRRRR--High School Musical.

“I would say that because we are now in tenth grade, we have less anxiety about where to go and knowing where classes are or finding friends, but there is definitely more stress now regarding getting closer and closer to college, which creates more pressure.”

So facts. I feel like these few years are going to fly by and I am trying to be in the moment and all of that kind of stuff but I also want to plan ahead. I’m also so scared that if I spend a lot of time planning ahead and nothing goes my way, I’m going to be stuck in a hole. And college freaks me out.

Wow, Needham High! We’re optimistic, aren’t we? On that happy note, good luck this week!
