NHS Free Agency

It’s that time of year again: Needham High School's free agency has begun. Teachers can now begin to

strengthen their rosters by signing, or trading, for students. Some major moves have already transpired. The first big move that should be addressed is 4.0 gpa, 5x all-AP student Douglas Farley is signing a two-semester contract with another historic program: AP Literature. The deal guarantees Farley a minimum of a B on every assignment, and six excused absences, a truly league-changing deal. Another big deal that happened is Peter Marcus' recent signing with AP Lang on a deal that guarantees him just six pencils and one free homework pass. Marcus is an interesting signing as he finished up English 10 with just a C- . Sources say that the Lang teachers really love his work ethic and are hoping this deal ends up being a diamond in the rough. Some big trades also transpired, most notably Pedro McGee, the varsity quarterback going from Ms. Jones’ gym class to Mr. Ryans’ gym class for eight  basketballs, ten  jump ropes, and a swap with Kristen Donaldson. This deal adds a star to Mr. Ryans’ class and gives  Ms. Jones’ class essential equipment and some great depth. The final deal that needs to be discussed is the trade of Renee Haynes. Haynes was dealt to AP Multi Variable Calc for six  TI-84 CE+ calculators. The calc teachers of the math department are really betting on the talent of a 4.0 student who is fresh out of geometry. We are just a few days into free agency, and the infrastructure of course demographics at Needham High has been completely reshaped.
