This month’s Fashionista of the Month is Chloe Lum, a sophomore who amazes with her outfits on a daily basis. I noticed her just by seeing her briefly in the hallways, and her outfits still stood out to me. I was so excited to interview her, and even more excited to share the interview with you!

Do you prefer in-person shopping or online shopping and why?

I prefer online shopping for deals and a wider range of options, and in-person shopping if I'm looking for something specific or want to try it to check sizes. For example, I usually shop for jeans in-person unless I know the exact size I want.

Is there a trend that you hate?

There aren’t any trends I hate, but some trends I don't try because I know they don’t fit my body type/vibe. There isn't anything I hate unless the revival of crocs counts. I hate crocs.

Bucket hats: yes or no?

Yes, but I don't regularly wear bucket hats nor do I think they fit my vibe. I do have one but it's mostly a joke. Some people wear them and they look awesome, so yes!

Who is your favorite fashionista/fashion inspo?

Currently there isn't anybody I largely take inspiration from. Influencers I use to be active fans/watch and still support are Ashley Alexander (ur mom ashley), Ashley Rous (bestdressed), Micarah Tewers, Mina Le, Freddy Cousin-Brown (Freddy My Love), Christian Villanueva (Fregual Aesthetic), and a lot more.

How would you describe your style? Do you have a certain aesthetic?

I can't describe my style/aesthetic honestly. I really like a range of styles and feel they reflect me in some sort of ways. Some days I feel more preppy and feminine while other days I feel more street/urban, or sometimes edgy.

What is your outfit picking process and do you have any advice?

My outfit picking process is pretty simple. Depending on how I feel I'll go for a specific vibe, or sometimes I have a certain clothing piece or accessory that I want to be the main focus, and build on it. If I have a specific vibe I want to go for I think of pieces in my closet that work together and throw an outfit together in under 10 minutes!

Do you prefer cold weather fashion or warm weather fashion?

I prefer warm weather fashion because I tend to dress for warmer weather in general. The recent cold weather has helped me learn how to layer and think of different ways to wear clothes for the winter, but I enjoy warm weather for the cute, showy, unique tops.

What kinds of clothes make you feel confident?

Clothes that make me feel confident would be anything I wear. What I choose to wear to school, with friends, or literally anywhere else is how I want to represent myself and help me feel put together.

Are you an arts person or a STEM person?

Honestly I don't know, but I guess both. I enjoy creation in arts physically with dance and fashion design, but not necessarily with drawing and such. Some aspects of STEM interest me like health/medicine/anatomy, economics, and human ethics/criminal justice.

Along with a few other fashionable people, Chloe is in the makings of a new club that will be known as Fit Club, a club for studying color theory, sustainability, accessorizing, and all things fashion! Contact her (cl241) or Jiyu Lee (jal251) for more details!
