An Album for Every Mood

The beginning of the school year for many is an emotional time. Each of us has different feelings about the new chapter of our lives we are about to begin. Maybe you’re excited by the new year and what it’ll bring, or maybe just being back in the school is really bringing you down. Regardless, we all have our own ways we deal with these emotions. For me, music is something that helps no matter how I’m feeling. If I’m enjoying myself, some happy music can really enhance my mood; if I’m feeling sad, emotional music is able to offer a very cathartic experience. If you're like me then this article is for you. Even if music isn’t your first go to when you’re feeling down, this article will still provide some great albums to listen to. Whether you’re excited for the new school year, stressed with all the work, or starting to feel your seasonal depression set in, don’t fret; I will be providing you with a perfect  album to match  every mood.

When you’re feeling happy, and need an album to play that will enhance your mood, look no further than the 2022 Grammys Rap Album of the Year: Call Me If You Get Lost. This project is superstar hip-hop artist Tyler, the Creator’s sixth studio album. Call Me If You Get Lost is a fun and funky album about finding who you are and being yourself. Much of this album is about vacationing, partying, and living life to the fullest. If you’re feeling happy you have to check this album out.

Angry

When you're feeling angry, and all you can see is red, the perfect album for you is Whole Lotta Red by rapper Playboi Carti. This album is a unique rage-inspired spin on Carti’s trap sound. Each track will pump you up and keep you angry as Carti rages over some great beats in his own unique style. If you're angry, and need an album that matches your energy, then Whole Lotta Red is the album for you.

Sad

Nothing can be more cathartic than a sad album for when you’re down. There is no better album for this than Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers. Track after track on this album will make you want to cry. Bridgers’ perfect blend of folk and indie rock, along with her heartbreaking songwriting, creates some beautiful, crushing songs. Definitely check this album out, especially if you need a good cry.

Relaxed

If you’re just relaxing and want to throw on some music, Salad Days by Mac DeMarco is a perfect fit. This album is one of Mac’s earlier cuts, but also one of his strongest projects. On this record he really defined his sound, and became one of the staples of the modern indie-rock scene. Salad Days is an atmospheric album with some great instrumentation. If you’re feeling relaxed then this album by Mr. DeMarco is just for you.
