Seven of the Most Popular Weird Food Combos

Happy April Fools Day!! This month we decided to try seven wacky and weird food combinations and rate them. Some of these combos surprised us, but some of them were not the best (to say the least). Feel free to try some of these combos yourself, as most of these ingredients can easily be found around the house. Who knows, you might find a favorite new snack!

For our first combo, we decided to try pickles and peanut butter. We used Skippy peanut butter and kosher dill pickle slices. Surprisingly, many people recommended this, although we went in with small expectations because we aren’t big fans of pickles. The texture and consistency of these two items together were quite unpleasant. Overall, this combo was not great and it definitely appeals to an acquired taste. We gave the pickle and peanut butter combo a 3/10.

This combo comes in many different variations. Some people recommended regular potato chips with melted chocolate and some people recommended using tortilla chips and creating a kind of dessert nachos. We decided to try plain Cape Cod chips with melted Hershey’s chocolate. This combo was definitely one of the less odd ones we tried, but we really enjoyed it. We loved the mix of sweet and salty and the warmness of the melted chocolate on top of the potato chips. Overall, we gave this variation an 8/10.

For this combo, we used Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Chips instead of Takis, because we prefer them over the original Takis. The texture of the cream cheese with the chips was a little odd, but we enjoyed how the cream cheese balanced out the spice of the chips. If you try this combo at home, we recommend whipped cream cheese for a more pleasant texture. We gave this a 6/10.

We love honey mustard with our chicken nuggets, so we decided to try just plain honey with them. We had mixed feelings on this one, the sweet honey added a nice tang to the chicken nuggets and the texture was quite nice, however, the honey was almost too sweet for us, and next time we might mix it in with a different sauce instead. We rate these a 4/10.

Next up, we tried apples and salt! Honestly, the apples took over the salty taste, and we could barely taste the salt. It tasted like a normal apple but brought out the tangy taste. This combo wasn't good, but wasn't bad either. It genuinely just tasted like a regular apple. We would recommend skipping the salt and just eating a regular apple. We gave these a 5/10.

This pasta and sugar combo was honestly disgusting. The texture was really weird and tasted like spoiled milk in a way. We had really high hopes for this one but were sadly disappointed. We would not recommend this to anyone, so we gave this combo a 2/10.

The pretzels and ice cream combo was definitely a hit! We really enjoyed the salty-sweet combination, and we would totally recommend this to anyone who wants to try a new  food combo. Pretzels can be common in ice cream flavors, such as salted caramel and pretzel ice cream, but we think this would be good with any flavor. We gave these a 9/10.
