2024 - 2025
Our NHS chapter had our annual Feed My Starving Children event in Libertyvillie, Illinois. This is a volunteer activity we do every year to make meals for children in need. We packed 22,680 meals, feeding 62 kids for a year. Thanks to the students and chaperones that showed up, you make the world a better place!
On March 20th, 2025, a new group of students were inducted in Lakeview's National Honor Society Chapter. These are a great group of people, and they were welcomed into the chapter by speeches from our officers, Dr. Ormseth, and President Swallow from Carthage College! We are excited to see the pillars of National Honors Society reflected in their future here at Lakeview, and how they contribute to our chapter!
Our officers ran a committee vs committee game meeting with a special prize at the end! Members played Jenga, cup stacking, cup pong, and other games all for a chance at pie-ing the officers (and Mr. Ortiz) in the face.Â
During October, NHS set up Boograms for any student who wanted to send a secret message-- or just some candy to a special someone. This fundraised money for our membership and other events we hosted throughout the year.
Lakeview's Fundraising committee partnered with a nearby McDonalds to sell Shamrock Shakes in March of this year. Students could buy Shamrock Shakes and get them to pair with the lunch at school the next week. We had over 60 sales and raised a ton of money for future events!
Gingerbread House Making
NHS hosted a fun meeting right before winter break this year! Committees competed against each other in a race to make the best gingerbread house of them all. In the end, Outreach committee won with their Polar Express inspired gingerbread train.
Bob Ross Painting Event
The Bob Ross painting event was held again! Any students were open to show up to paint alongside a video of Bob Ross with their friends. There were drinks, snacks, supplies, and most importantly-- our very own live action Bob Ross lookalike (Mr. Ortiz in a wig...) to guide us through the painting process.
