Last Day of School, June 8th - Almost there!
Feed My Starving Children pt. 2!! 30 Lakeview students headed down to Libertyville once again to help pack food kits for kids overseas. In total, we packed 113 boxes, which is 56,952 meals, which will feed 153 kids for a whole year. Thank you to all of the volunteers who went - you all had wonderful spirit and it was a lot of fun! #kusdproud
On March 30th, 2023, NHS officially welcomed 16 new rising junior and senior inductees!! We hosted a guest speaker, shared speeches highlighting our Four Pillars, celebrated the accomplishments of current and new members, and enjoyed delicious pizza and drinks. Thank you to Dr. O, to our Outreach Committee, and to all of the officers for making the ceremony so great!
In recognition of their outstanding accomplishment, we would like to congratulate: Karis Bryant, Aeliana Carpenter, Caleb Dzioba, Jonathan Gerstung, Jack Hermes, Joshua Manjarrez, Carson Moore, Nathaniel Orr, Bryson Palacio, Matilda Petkus, Cicely Rallo, Sophia Tenuta, Eli Thomey, Josiah Wade, Steven Zhang, and Olivia Zoerner.
We would also like to honor two of our graduating seniors who went above and beyond this year. They did outstanding work, took immense initiative, demonstrated incredible responsibility, spirit, and capability, and gracefully exemplified our Four Pillars, both in and outside of school. Thank you for your amazing efforts this year,
Emine Aliji

Election day kicked off with some fantastic skits and music videos created by our committees to welcome our new members to their first meeting!! (if you'd like to see the Officer Team's video, see the 'About' tab). Afterwards, 11 of our members stepped up to the podium to deliver speeches for their candidacy. 6 of them will be voted onto the officer team for the 2023-2024 school year!
To celebrate Saint Paddy's day and all of the hard work done this quarter, NHS partnered with Culver's to deliver discount Shamrock Shakes to students during their lunches. It was a very yummy treat!
Finals are over and the ACT is finished (congrats Juniors!), so our NHS got together with LakeView's SkillsUSA org to serve at the Shalom Center! The Shalom Center diligently serves Kenosha County as a soup kitchen, food pantry, and residency shelter for anyone in need. It was an honor for our clubs to host a Bingo Night (Bingo puns included), help prep in the soup kitchen, and meet different members of our community. Thank you to the Shalom Center and our volunteers!
With winter break coming up and holiday spirit in the air, NHS threw a special fun day for its members - gingerbread competition! Committees grouped together for the challenge to build a masterful creation of graham crackers, marshmallows, sprinkles, frosting, and more. The criteria and winners of each are listed below (judged by Mr. Ortiz himself):
Structural Integrity: Officer Team
Holiday Spirit: Fundraising
Uniqueness: Service & Outreach
Looks and Aesthetic Quality: Involvement
Overall Best Build: Involvement
Thank you to all of our members who have worked so hard this semester to bring these wonderful projects to fruition... The break is well-deserved and we wish you all a great rest of the year!

Fundraising - 5 Star Winter Cabin with a Pool
Outreach - King KongÂ
Service - Christmas Tree Spectacular

LakeView students brought their artistic talent to our Involvement Committee's Bob Ross Event! We followed along with Bob Ross for the afternoon and painted a wonderful river forest scene. Some students even went beyond the instruction book and painted their own creative designs. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped set this event up - it was a fun time!
This year's NHS service committee brought back our Feed My Starving Children trip! We headed down to Libertyville to help pack food kits for kids in need in Somalia. In less than 2 hours, we packed 124 boxes, which is 26,784 meals, which will feed 73 kids for a whole year. If you are in need of service hours or simply want to contribute to a non-profit organization that aims at eradicating hunger among children, FMSC is a fantastic option. Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who participated!
LakeView's annual Monster Mash made its return after two years as the Graveyard Gala! With great success, the NHS involvement committee ran a pumpkin carving room during the dance. Within an hour and a half, we ran out of pumpkins! Thank you to our involvement committee and volunteers who helped it run so smoothly and clean up afterwards. Students really let their spooky creativity shine in their pumpkin artwork this year!
On October 13th, NHS hosted the first ever Welcome Back Club Carnival! Students came outside and enjoyed music, games, snacks, and prizes prepared by our wonderful clubs. On that note, a huge thank you goes out to all of our LakeView clubs that participated: The Young Women's Forum, SkillsUSA, Super Mileage Vehicle Club, Environmental Club, Board Game Club, Remotely Operated Vehicle Club, and NHS's Service, Involvement, and Fundraising Committees - everyone did an outstanding job on their booths. In addition, a massive thank you goes out to all of our volunteers who put so much effort into creating games, selling tickets, setting up and tearing down the event, and everything in between! What an awesome start to the year!
