2021 - 2022
The NHS closed out its 2021-2022 chapter with a Spring Clean Up at Lake Andrea! The Service Committee provided students with a chance to help out the environment and earn service hours. Overall, the volunteers managed to fill 6 bags with garbage found around the lake! Thank you to all of our volunteers and chaperones - it was a great time!
On April 29th, 2022, a new group of students were inducted in LakeView's National Honor Society Chapter. With speeches from officers, reminding new members on the importance of the NHS pillars, to Mr. Creel's, our interim principle, kind words of advice, the ceremony offered a glimpse at the future years these members will take part in. Additionally, our graduating Officer team was honored for all the hard work they have put in during their tenure. Thank you for all of those who assisted in running the induction ceremony this year, including, but not limited to: Mr. Creel, Mr, Ortiz, Mrs. Palmen, our entire Officer team (Lillian, Shu, Tony, Lexi, Smrithi, and Jakob), our volunteers and, of course, our wonderful custodial staff who helped us set up this event. Congratulations to all of our new members!
The NHS College Preparation/Tutoring Committee held a presentation after school for interested juniors and underclassmen who wanted to learn more about the inter-workings of the college application process from seniors who have personally gone through the process. They discussed a variety of subjects, from the basics of the Common App to requesting transcripts to applying to scholarships. Thank you for all those who contributed, especially Sadie the committee chair who hosted this school-wide presentation!
NHS Service Committee successfully planned and ran a service project in tangent with Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, IL. Our volunteers helped pack over 15 thousand meals, around 74 boxes, to be sent to those in need around the world, from Ukraine to Haiti. Thank you to all who helped!
To celebrate the upcoming winter break, NHS hosted a holiday movie night, welcoming students to view their favorite holiday flicks in the comfort of their pajamas. Movie options such as Elf, Home Alone, and The Grinch, allowed for students to choose their favorites films to watch with their friends! Thank you to all our volunteers who helped this event be successful!
LakeView students came out in hoards to attend the NHS/SkillsUSA Bowling Night at GRC! Pizza, soda, and bowling available for two hours to students, many frames were played and quite a few pins got knocked down. We are very grateful for our staff chaperones who helped make sure this event went off without a hitch!
Pumpkin Carving
NHS's Pumpkin Carving event brought out more than 50 students! Thanks to generous donations, plenty of pumpkins were available to all, allowing student to get creative and have fun.
Club Fair
Our first of the year, NHS ran a booth at the LakeView Club Fair, an exhibition to highlight the work done by the clubs here at LakeView and recruit new members. Volunteers helped man the NHS booth during their lunch periods, talking to underclassmen about the organization and what we do. Thank you to our volunteers for helping us run this booth and create our presentation board!
