Expressing thoughts clearly, crisply articulating opinions, communicating coherent instructions, motivating others through powerful speech—these skills have always been valued in the workplace and in public life. But in the 21st century, these skills have been transformed and are even more important today.
When communication is effective in the classroom setting, both the students and the teacher benefit from it. Communication makes learning easier, helps students achieve goals, increases opportunities for expanded learning, strengthens the connection between student and teacher, and creates an overall positive experience.
This article from Edutopia explains different methods for students to be able to resolve conflicts in the classroom. It focuses on strengthening students’ capacity to evaluate their problems and consider a number of solutions leads to better, less impulsive conflict resolution. I will use these strategies in my own classroom in order to promote social and emotional learning.

The goal for this lesson is that students will be able to solve division problems with and without remainders through visualization of realistic scenarios. This lesson involves demonstration of problems, group collaboration on how to solve problems and a partner activity with manipulatives.
