Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

For being my first project in Intro to Art it most definitely isn't perfect, but for being the first, I am pretty proud of it. It was hard to get the shading just right and that thumb will probably always annoy me, but there are parts of it that turned out somewhat decent. The scissor handles are one of those parts that turned out just maybe decent.

This pencil drawing was really fun to do, even when sometimes it frustrated me. It was a good note to start off my time in high school art and I learned a lot from doing it and if I had to draw another one it would be even better.

Watercolor

Water color is a strange thing. At first I didn't like it, I had difficulty getting the water and colors to flow just right, but after a while I kind of got the hang of it and I got to say, I think it turned out quite well.

The animal itself is a great creature, a type of octopus that lives at the bottom of the ocean and has bio luminescence. I had a lot of fun getting the lights to look as if they were shinning, they contrast nice with the red of the octopus.

Clay Whistle

I've worked with clay before but this was most definitely harder than any clay pots that I made in elementary school.

You can't really tell by looking at this photo but the trunk of the elephant is actually the part of a whistle that you blow through and on the bottom is where the air comes out and makes the whistle sound. Getting that sound to come out was difficult but also really fun.

The glaze was interesting and didn't quite turn out how I'd hoped, but I still think my little elephant pretty cute.

Acrylic Painting

When beginning this project I thought that acrylic painting would be easier for me than the water color.... but that thought proved incorrect.

It took me quite a few tries to get every part of the painting to be okay, but overall I think it is decent though that wing is still giving me trouble.

Copper Box

For the copper on my box I didn't really have time to make it very good, but I do like the simple pattern of swirls coming from the fingers like "magic".

The paper covering the material of the box is made from banana trees and it adds a cool effect to the box that I really like.
