Intro to Art

Clay Jar

I made a clay jar and after it dried I glazed three coats on it. Then I painted one coat of funky spots on the jar. I liked the way it turned out but I did not know the color would turn out so bright. The reason I did this design because I thought it was a cool unique design. The bright colors remind me to stay positive and have a joyful heart. Something that I would do different would be the shape of the jar, I did not really like how I shaped the clay.

Clay Bowl

I made a clay bowl and this is probably one of my favorite projects so far. I loved the way it turned out. I started out with a plastic bowl and covered it with paper towels, I drew my design on the paper towels so I knew what to follow. Then I had clay coils and I cut the clay into tiny pieces about the same size and started making my design. It took quite a while to make the design part but once I was finished I took a long piece of coil and finished it off by wrapping it all the way around the bowl. I tried to clean it up and smooth it out as best as I can and then I blow dried the bowl and it went into the kiln. After the kiln I painted three coats of white paint on the bowl and then it went in the kiln again and it turned out great.

Underwater Color

When I started this project I thought I would not like watercolor, but turns out I actually ended up enjoying it. For my watercolor I painted a jellyfish. I picked a jellyfish that I liked and then printed it. I started by coloring on the back of the printed copy with a pencil. Then I started tracing the jellyfish onto a piece of paper and once I was done then I traced over it with a black pen. I did the background before I did anything on the jellyfish. After the background was dry I started on the jellyfish and every day I added more and more layers. I made some parts of the jellyfish darker and the other parts only had a few layers of water color. To finish it off I added some white pen to some parts of the jellyfish to add something different. I really ended up enjoying this project, it was fun to learn how to do water color.

Bird Print Making

For my print making project I picked a peacock. To start the project I had to go on the computer to make the peacock reversed and change it to black and white. Then once it was printed I colored on the back of the printed copy with pencil and traced it onto a rubber stamp. Then I outlined it with a marker on the stamp so I can see the peacock more clearly. Once I was done tracing it on the stamp I carved out all the white pieces. I would say the tracing and carving part took a lot of time because there was so much detail. Then the fun part came and I got to print a whole bunch of peacocks. I printed colorful ones, plain ones and different papered ones. I had a lot of fun with stamping part. Then I picked out my best printed peacocks and put them into a book. I really enjoyed this art project because it was a lot more different compared to the other ones I did.

Spot the Differences

For my spot the differences project we picked a partner to do this project with and then we had to go take a picture of a public place in Visalia. Once we had our picture then we had to upload it to a website called photopea. Every day we had to make a new difference on our picture. Some of the differences we had to do was duplicate an item, recolor an item, flip an item, remove an item, and resize an item. And your partner had to do 5 other differences. After we were done making the differences we had to make an answer key and then we finished. I would say this project was a little more on the harder side because I am not really good with this kind of computer stuff. Once I finished I am glad how it turned out bc it will go to good use.

Foam Box

To start building my foam box, we got a piece of paper with the measurements that we needed to cut out of foam. Once I measured and cut out all my foam pieces, I picked out a piece of paper that I liked. Then I started working on my name, to do that I traced my name with a font that I liked and stretched the copper until my name bubbled out. Then I put the box together, I glued 4 sides onto a base and then there was a whole process to put the paper around the box. After the box part was finished then I worked on the lid and I cut out a hole so my name would show and then I glued all the foam pieces together. Then I put the paper around the lid and it was finished. I really enjoyed this project because it was a simple project and if you followed directions there was no way you could mess up. It was a fun project to finish the year off.
