What are we going to do and why? How do you feel about this assignment?
I am going to draw a picture of one of the kids and give it to them. We are doing this because they are orphan kids and it will give them something to brighten their day and make them feel loved and thoughtful. I feel excited about this assignment because I feel like it is a good project for us because we get to make it for someone else. It is a little different from what we have been doing and I am excited to see their reactions when they get their portrait.
The most important aspect of this portrait is getting the portrait to look like my kid Sandis. My goal is to try my hardest to try and make it look like her and then I can't wait to see her reaction when she gets her portrait. This activity is considered worship because we are praising God through the art and bringing joy into our kids hearts because they are children of God. I know I will be successful on this project when I know I tried my hardest to achieve my best work.
With oil pastel I learned that it was hard to get the right coloring and mixing the colors. I tried to be exaggerate with the pastels but it turned out real bad real fast. I probably won't choose the pastel route.
With colored pencil I learned that finding the right color was also hard. I made it really streaky too, it was not smooth. I will probably not choose colored pencil either because I could not figure out how to make it look good.
This was my favorite probably because I have done something like this. It was easier because I did not need to find the right color and I just needed to add darker or lighter shades. I hope my final project will turn out great with pencil.
Servant working and Beauty creating because I am working on a project and making it for a child of God. I chose beauty creating because it took art and lots of penciling to make a portrait of Sandis. This project helps me to be more like these two throughlines because it is a project that makes you think of others and what you do for them other than yourself.
I chose to do this project in pencil because I was not a fan of the other choices, I tried them out and I was just not that good at them. I really liked pencil and made the shadows dark and the lighter parts light. The hair was probably the most difficult part because it was getting a little crazy. My favorite part was the necklace, it added a little bit of color to the portrait and it was fun to do. I can not wait to see Sandis' reaction to her portrait!
I hope Sandis is happy when she recieves her portrait. I can't wait to see her reaction and I hope to bring a bit more joy into her life. If I was there when she gets it I would love to talk to her and hear about her life in Honduras. She seems super sweet and I would love to get to know her better if I could.
Final Reflection:
It was so fun to see everyone's reactions and their excitement towards their portrait. It brought them so much joy and it just makes this project so much more worth it. I hope it brought them hope and that they will know that they are loved by God. These kids have nothing and just a portrait created by someone else brings so much excitement and it makes me want to go over there and hand it them myself. I would have loved to meet Sandis and sit and talk with her and get to know her. She seems super sweet and I hope that my drawing made her day and that she will remember this moment forever.
