Intro to Art

Hand Drawing - Paintbrush

I chose to draw my hand holding a paintbrush because I thought that it would be a challenge. This piece will help me with any future projects because it taught me to see value in the picture that I am trying to draw. this project turned out a lot better than I thought it would. My goal in this project was that in my finished drawing I could tell that it was my hand and I feel that I succeeded in that goal because many of the charachteristics of my hand are in my drawing. My favorite parts of this piece are the metal and bristles of the paintbrush and my fingernails. On the other hand, my least favorite part is the base of my thumb. To create this drawing I used 6B, 3B, HB, and 2H drawing pencils and a blending stump. I also used a soft eraser, a electric eraser, and a block eraser.

Insect Painting - Ants

I chose to paint ants because they looked interesting, and fun to paint. To accomplish this project I used acrylic paint, three different paintbrushes, a palette, and a piece of canvas. I learned how to blend and use acrylic paint and this will help me in future projects. My goal for this project was to make a painting that looked like my subject but wasn't realistic and I think that I achieved my goal because the ants look glossy but not realistic. My favorite part of this piece is the white on the bodies of the ants that makes them look shiny. My least favorite part this piece is the leaf because I used too much paint so it is glossy and the rest is rough. this project will influence my future art because it taught me the skills to create an acrylic painting.

Clay Jar

For this project, I made a nothing jar. I picked to make a nothing jar instead of a something jar because I knew that if I did a something jar and it didn't turn out how I wanted it to, I would have been disappointed. To make this jar I used clay and glaze. to form this jar I used a couple of tools including clay knifes and stamps. While making this project I learned how to work with clay and how to glaze clay. this was our first clay project this year and I really liked it. I think clay is fun but I am definitely better with pencils. I didn't realise how many coats of glaze it took to get a dark color and I wish I had done a few more where I wanted it to be darker.

Clay Whistle - Horse

I chose to make my whistle into my horse Tessa. I chose to do this because I thought it would be a fun challenge and I am very happy with how it turned out. This piece of art is meaningful to me because it looks like my horse Tessa. this project has helped me get a lot better at sculpting clay and glazing clay to make your project look more realistic.

Coil Bowl

I used clay coils to make this bowl. I had a lot of fun figuring out what pattern to do. I learned how to manipulate clay into different shapes while doing this project. This project will help me do a better job on future clay projects because I learned how to blend clay very well.

Water Color - Jellyfish

I enjoyed this project because I thought using water colors was fun. At first I was using really thin layers and I wasn't getting darker but then I started using more paint and getting darker layers and depth to my painting.

Bird Print - Duck

I enjoyed the beginning of this project more than the end. I liked carving out my picture more than actually printing. I liked how this project turned out because mine was unique and i had fun making it.

Spot the Difference

This project was easier than I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed using photopea. Going into the project I thought I wasn't going to be good at it but I surprised myself and did well.

Metal Top Box

At first I had a really thin and fancy font and it was really hard to make the indent easy to read. So I changed my font to this one. Putting the box together was easy after that and I liked how my box turned out.
