India

We are going to draw a portrait of an orphan in India to send to them. I am excited to not only improve my drawing skills but also draw a picture of a kid in India to give to him to hopefully brighten his day and make him feel special.

The most important aspect of this portrait is making sure the kid who receives the portrait feels loved and that they are important. I am worshiping the Lord by showing God's love and acting like Jesus by doing this portrait. I am drawing God's image and loving a kid who needs love at the same time. If my portrait looks like or gives the idea of the kid I am attempting to draw then I am successful.

From the past couple of weeks of practices I have learned what media I am most comfortable using and what media I think I can make the best portrait out of. I definitely think that oil pastels will give me the most success. I learned my skill level and which medium would give me the best results. I chose to use oil pastels.

This project is helping me be more of a servant worker. I am taking my time and energy and putting it into drawing a portrait of an orphan in India. I am being a servant and showing love to a kid who needs it. I am also creating beauty. I am drawing a portrait of a kid who was made in God's image and is therefore beautiful and I am trying to portray that.

My process was long and difficult but worked great in the end. Of course we started with three practice portraits using three different mediums to help us decide what we would do our real portrait on. Then I chose oil pastels and went for it. It took me a while to get into the process as it had been a bit since my practice portrait but I eventually got into the flow and it felt amazing. I felt good with how I was doing and I am very happy with the final project. It is what i imagined and I hope Ahil is happy with it.

I hope that Ahil is happy and thinks that it looks like him. I hope that it  brings him joy and I hope that he knows he is loved and special. If I could talk to him I would tell him to keep up his confidence and that he is loved.
