Self Portrait

In this project, I used pencils as a means of media. This self-portrait project was very hard and took me very long. This project took the longest out of any project I have done before. During this project, I learned how to use pencils to realistically recreate a picture. I learned how to add texture and value where I wanted it to make the drawing seem more realistic. I was inspired by other people's portraits I looked at while I was doing my own. I believe that I achieved the goal of making a realistic drawing of myself. Although I am happy with the outcome, I would not want to do it again. This was not my favorite project as it was pretty difficult for me. This is more than what I hoped for, I am super happy. I really like the face and everything on it, including the ears. I don't like the hair as much and believe I could have done better on it. Overall, I am satisfied and glad I did it.

Food Painting

This was easily one of my favorite projects to date. My assignment was to choose a picture of food and paint it. During the project I learned how to blend and add texture where I wanted it. I found my style and went with it. I am super happy with how it turned out and am no longer scared of painting. I loved the new paint we got compared to the paint we used Freshman year in intro to art. I was inspired by others' paintings around the room as well as my sister's and father's history with painting. The goal of the project was to make an expressive painted impression of food. I believe I did this well. I am surprised with how quickly it went given the outcome. The result easily fulfilled my hopes for this project.

Animal Scratch Art

In this project, we used an X-Acto Knife to uncover the white under the black layer of the paper we used. Hundreds of lines were scratched to make this representation of a fluffy animal we chose. Although I liked the project and am really happy with the outcome, it was very difficult. It took courage to move on to the next section that had to be done. Each part of the project required a different type of line and therefore a different style of scratch. I learned how to adapt to each different-looking part of the image and learned that just going for it was the best approach. I was inspired by other people's projects from the past as well as from around the room while I was doing mine. I love what I have done and am extremely happy with how it turned out. There are however some aspects that I would have done differently as they didn't turn out how I wished them to. Overall, this is one of my favorite finished 2d projects so far.

Water Color Architecture

This is my water color of architecture project. In this project we used water color paint, water, and brushes to recreate a picture of man made architecture. I really enjoyed this project through surprising myself with what I could do and pushing through difficult parts of the picture. I made it all work and I am really happy with how it turned out. I learned how to make realistic shadows using the paint and water to make the whole thing look more realistic and good. I also really liked the color scheme I used. My favorite part of the piece is either the shadows, the colors, or the small details like the pipes and plants.

Colored Pencil Transportation

This is my colored pencil drawing of a mode of transportation. This one one of my favorite projects because of how fast it went. This was the quickest project I have done in the class and it still turned out well. I am very happy with it. If I were to do a project again i would do another colored pencil drawing. It came somewhat naturally to me. I learned how and when to blend colors and when to leave something crisp. I had fun with the dark and light spots.
